Welcome!

Thanks for visiting our site. We figured this might be the easiest way to update everyone on the progress of our new home.

For those that still don't know, we sold our starter townhome back in October. With the market the way it was, we were told we'd be lucky if we sold in six months. To everyone's suprise, we were out of our house a month later! Since early November, we've been living in a one bedroom apartment near our old home. We shopped around in Urbana, a town about 10 minutes north of Germantown, and purchased a new home in the Villages of Urbana, a brand new community up there. We've been patiently waiting for the rest of our unit to fill up so construction can begin.

Stay tuned for updates as we get them!!

Final Walk Through 5/28/08

We met with our project manager today to see the finished product. Other than some minor scratches on the walls and a few other things they have since fixed, the house seems ready to go! Below is a slideshow of our new home, only I completely forgot to take shots of the morning room. We settle on Monday, June 2 and should be completely moved in by the 8th. So, hopefully we'll add one or two more postings of the furnishing progress.

We have drywall! 4/27/08

We were told our drywall was nearly complete today so we hopped in the car and decided to take a look for ourselves. It is pretty crazy how fast they work as none of this was here a week ago. We were also pleasantly suprised to see we now have a door and windows. Below is a slideshow of the newly drywalled rooms.

Laying Down the Bricks 4/17/08

Today we had to meet with our Guardian representative to make sure they knew where we wanted all our cable, fan and speaker plugs to be. While we waited, we were able to watch the bricklayers laying the brick on all the homes. There was a group of about ten of them all working on the same area and they were all on the same page. It was amazing how fast they worked!

Roofing and Framing 03/28/08

We were completely suprised to find the roof and walls up on our townhome this weekend. We wanted to watch as they put up the roof but by the time we were able to make it out there, the crew had already lifted the roof! It seems things are a little ahead of schedule, but we're not getting our hopes up as spring showers are likely to even things out in the future. Nonetheless, the framing's nearly complete and we're getting a pretty good view of what our home will look like. Take a tour with the slideshow below.

The Framing Begins!

So, Ken we were both out of town this weekend, but we'd heard the framing had begun on the house and we didn't want to have to wait until next weekend to see the progress. So, despite a cross-country flight back to Maryland, Ken raced up to Urbana and manage to snap some shots right before sunset. Our basement is pretty much framed! Below are some of the images from all sorts of different angles. The frames are even up for the floors to the main level. This week they're supposed to be working on all of the walls and the roof. We're going to head back up on Thursday evening and watch as they lift our roof up on the house with a big crane. Hopefully we'll get some good pics or maybe even a video :)

We have an address!

Well, we've had one for a while, but now it's proudly displayed on the lot, so somehow that's more official. For those taking notes, it's 3532 Tabard Lane. We went out again and were happy to see both of our walls were up. They've also placed a bunch of pipes down and graveled the floor quite nicely. It seems our bathroom and laundry room are on their way!

We have basement walls! March 8, 2008

A week after our preconstruction meeting, we decided to check out the progress of our home and were happy to find out the walls were being poured. Unfortunately, it's been raining like crazy out here, but they did manage to get one of our two walls up. We took a bunch of pictures and have displayed them in the slideshow below. Enjoy!
